My journey to Ankara started at 3pm yesterday as I left work for Heathrow Airport. My flight was at 21:05 landing here in Ankara at 3:05. We had a slight delay and I landed approximately 4am.I am here for a week to compete in two tournaments. The first will be the Ankara Open and the second the first European Ranking Masters. The Ankara Open is the first Premier event on the EBT and has higher prize money and ranking points available for the taking.
The Masters is an invitational tournament where the top 16 women and men compete to decide the top ranked bowler.
The Ankara Open organiser Duygu Gurkan was wonderful and had organised her friend to collect me from the airport even though it was the middle of the night!
I managed to get a few hours sleep then headed down to the bowl today. The scoring pace was very high, I managed to get into the 5pm squad and bowled pretty well on the whole. I made a few sparing mistakes in the first game while I was fishing around finding the best ball reaction. But then picked up my Smash Zone and had a great ball reaction, this ball is the hardest hitting ball I have ever owned. It seems to blow the pins away from any angle into the pocket! I feel like I have used it everywhere since it came out on different surfaces and oiling patterns!
I shot games of:
| 157 | 256 | 256 | 218 | 180 | 176 | 1,243 |
I was a little disappointed I lost ball reaction the last 2 games, the lane really burned up and I had to move a lot deeper. I need to play with a different ball if I am going to move that far left tomorrow.
I bowl again at 13:00 and 21:00 tomorrow.
